Cake Poker Summary

Established in 2005, Cake Poker is an up an coming poker room that offers players a lot of promotions, a great VIP program, and good customer support. While traffic is relatively low at the moment, low-middle stakes Hold’em & Omaha players can always find a good game. Cake Poker offers a nice variety of tournaments, including satellites for WPT and WSOP events.

New players at Cake Poker can get a healthy monthly rakeback percentage of 33% plus a $500 freeroll seat. To help boost the word of mouth traffic, Cake Poker offers their existing players a $100 refer-a-friend bonus as well. Invite your friends to start playing at Cake, and build your bankroll at the same time. The graphics at Cake Poker are nice, and the look is somewhat 3D. The lobby has plenty of options and is easy to use. Overall, this is a very nice room, getting better all the time.

Cake Poker Cash Games

Low - middle stakes Hold’em games have plenty of traffic. Tables are busy up to$5/10 NL & FL Hold’em and Omaha, sometimes higher. Omaha Hi/Lo generally has traffic up to $3/6 FL, $1/2 NL & PL. Competition at Cake Poker is very weak. Many of the players at Cake are new to the game, and you see all the typical mistakes made over and over again. Experienced players looking to profit from low-middle stakes games can do very well here. If you’re only playing for play money, you will not find worse play money players anywhere else.

Cake Poker runs several guaranteed tournaments in the $1,000 - $20,000 range every day. On Sundays, they run a $50,000 guaranteed tournament at 3pm ET, and a $100,000 guaranteed tournament at 5pm ET. The $50K guaranteed tournament has a direct buy-in of $100+$9, or players can win a satellite into the tournament for as little as $2+.20, or 4 Gold Chips. The $100K tournament has a direct buy-in of $150+12, and satellites can be played in for as little as $5 + .40.

On the first Sunday of every month, Cake Poker runs their biggest scheduled tournament. The $250,000 guaranteed has a direct buy-in of $300+20, and starts at 2pm ET.

Cake Poker has all of the standard sit & go tournaments including 6 handed, 10 handed, and multi-table. They also have a variety of heads-up, bounty, and steps tournaments. 10 player sit & go buy-ins range from $1.10 - $50+3.50. 6 players sit & go buy-ins are in the $3.30 - $180+14 range. Cake also offers numerous Gold Chip tournaments, where players can cash in their Gold Chips for tournament entries.

If you like the ridiculous, Cake Poker offers what they call the Kamikaze sit & go. In these tournaments, either 12 or 25 players sit down and are automatically put all-in on every hand until the tournament is over. While there is no skill required to play this, if action is all you care about, this is your game.

Cake Poker Graphics & Software

The lobby and table graphics at Cake Poker are very nice. The lobby is simple to use, and has plenty of filters to help players sift through the various game options. The tables use photos of actual people, and the feel is semi-3D. Buttons are big, easy to read, and put in the right places.

Table sound effects leave something to be desired, as they’re a bit clunky. If you don’t like the sounds, there is the option to hear only a simple ‘ding’ when it’s your turn, or they can be turned off entirely.

The software gets good marks for multi-tabling. Players can open and play on as many tables as they can handle. While some players still complain about the occasional disconnect, for the most part, the software works very well. The hand history function is very nice, one of the best we’ve seen. Note-taking abilities are available as well.
